 THE PROJECT

LIFT EVERY VOICE AND SING!

THE PROJECT

Project Summary:

B'more Aloha! is a day of empowerment and healing through the arts for survivors of rape, incest, domestic violence and who may have had experience of being in foster care.

The day will include a morning inspirational keynote, vendors from the community, resources for dealing with all aspects of sexual and domestic violence for mind, body and spirit, a performance art piece with music and cultural dancing from the Polynesian Islands and Africa, and special moments to honor survivors and our accomplishments in our communities.

Jennifer Folayan, a local Baltimore business owner of Aloha Sales & Marketing 101, LLC is hosting a community day fund-raiser to benefit CASA of Baltimore, CASA of Hawaii and organizations that serve foster care youth and victims and survivors of rape and incest.

The event will be held on in October 16th, 1 PM - 6 PM 2016 at the Baltimore Rowing & Resource Center at Middle Branch Park. Admission is free and open to the public with registration opening at 11 a.m., while the fund-raiser and workshops run from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. There will be many vendors from the local Baltimore and Polynesian communities providing food, music, fun, entertainment, healing, dancing, and donated items. Folayan created the project in 2015 and held the first annual event at Druid Hill Park in August of last year.

"As a survivor of rape and incest and my experience of being a foster child from age 14 to 18 when I graduated out of foster care, I know the many complexities and personal triumphs one has to face to establish a place in the world,” Folayan said. “I am proud to have graduated 5th in my class as an honor student who went on to college and now has a stable career. I have a passion to help others and I stand for empowerment, love and healing to give back the voice that was lost.”

I have met many people along the way and have been welcomed by the spirit of Aloha in the darkest moments of my life. I am who I am today because of learning key principles and healing through dance, music and art. I would like to share these possibilities with my community here in Baltimore and show the world of love and empowerment beyond violence.
